Bengal were in a strong position
(312/7) against Jammu
and Kashmir on Day One of
the Ranji Trophy Group A
match at Eden Gardens on
Tuesday. Electing to bat, Bengal
openers AR Easwaran (21)
and Arindam Das (30) gave a
decent start to the team.
However, the hosts suffered a
mini collapse that saw them
slip to 68/4 from 49/1. Wriddhiman
Saha, however, dragged
them out of the woods with a
fine century (129 in 202 balls).
Laxmi Ratan Shukla too
scored 72 runs. For J&K, Ram
Dayal and Parvez Rasool
bagged two wickets each.
Ankush hits ton
Dharamsala: Opener
Ankush Bains struck an
unbeaten 110 as HP reached
a steady 195/1 in their first
innings on the opening day
of their Group C match
against Jharkhand.
Put in to bat by Jharkhand,
Himachal rode on
Bains’ hundred and his
148-run partnership with
Ankit Kalsi on a low-scoring
day. Prashant Chopra was
the only batsman to fall
today, dismissed by medium-pacer
Rituraj Singh,
who gave away 40 runs in
his 17 overs.
